ASCE Rail History: ASCE Rail refers to a series of early American rail section standards developed by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), which primarily defined the cross-sectional dimensions and theoretical weight of rails. Although it has been superseded by the more modern AREMA (American Association of Railroad Engineers and Maintenance) standards, it remains widely used in mining rails, light industrial rails, port industrial transportation, and small railroads in North and South America at present.

Steel Material Grades for ASCE Rail

Although the cross-sectional shapes, weights, and dimensions of ASCE 25–80 rails all follow traditional design, ASCE rail products produced now use high-purity carbon steel, which is produced by the modern iron smelting process, from open-hearth furnace to Basic Oxygen Furnace / Electric Arc Furnace.
