Type III (WJ-4) Clip Rail Track Fastener System Details

Type III Rail Fastening System
  • Fastener Parts:
    The Type III elastic clip fastening system is a fastener system for a shoulderless track rail, and the fastener system consists of a type III elastic clip, an insulating gauge block, a rubber pad, and a type III Tie plate.
  • Application:
    The Type III elastic clip fastening system is suitable for the standard gauge railroad straight line or curved line radius not less than 350m line connecting 60kg/m rails and no shoulder type III prestressed concrete sleepers.

Fastener Parts Mechanical Requirement:

  • a single elastic range of 13mm, buckle pressure ≥ 11 kN;
  • the left and right position adjustment of the single rail: -4 ~ +2 mm, gauge adjustment: -8 ~ +4 mm;
  • The pull-out force of the embedded iron seat should not be less than 60 kN.

Type III Elastic Clip Fastening System Introduction:

The type III rail fasteners are boltless, non-slip shoulder fasteners. No bolts and no shoulder fasteners are the trend of the development of sleeper fasteners in various countries in the world, and are particularly suitable for heavy load, high-density transportation conditions. Elastic type III fasteners, e-shaped elastic clip, diameter <20mm, stroke range of 13mm, initial buckle pressure 11 kN.

Type III E Shape Rail Clip

The sleeper embedded iron seats and spring bars are installed on the iron seats and do not need to be bolted. The gauge pad can be used to adjust the gauge. The elastic clip type III fastener is suitable for the track of a standard gauge railway or a curve with a radius of R>350m, and a seamless track of a 60kg/m rail and a type III non-blocking concrete sleeper. The rail fasteners have been extensively laid on China's heavy-duty and speed-up lines.

Development of Type III Elastic Clip Fastening System

In order to meet the requirements of less maintenance of track structure, China developed a type of elastic bar type III fastener system, which is similar to P e type fasteners; fasteners are made of elastic steel bars, embedded iron seats, insulated gauge blocks, and rail rubber pad. Pallet composition, concrete sleeper without shoulder, no bolt fasteners. The fastener has the advantages of less parts, compact structure, large buckle pressure, strong gauge capacity, low maintenance workload, and is particularly suitable for a line using a large-scale mechanical operation. However, the main disadvantage of fasteners is the inability to adjust the height of rails. This kind of fastener has a single bar buckle pressure greater than 11 kN, a span of 13 mm, and a static stiffness of the rail under the rail of 55-80 kN/mm.

Features of Type III Elastic Clip Fastening System

Type III fasteners are no bolts and no shoulder fasteners. No bolts and no shoulder fasteners are the trend of the development of railway fasteners in various countries in the world, and are particularly suitable for heavy load, high-density transportation conditions.

Design parameters:

The initial buckle pressure of a single elastic rail clip (minimum buckle pressure after assembly) is not less than 11KN, the working deformation of the elastic clip is 13mm; the maximum resistance of the fastener against lateral force is 70KN (fatigue load); the gauge adjustment amount is +4-8mm. The  type III fastening uses a casting shoulder embedded in a concrete sleeper to maintain the gauge distance, to withstand lateral forces, to buckle the rails with elastic bars, to use nylon blocks as insulating parts and to adjust the gauge.

 

Advantages of Type III Elastic Fastener:

The elastic type III fastener has the advantages of large buckle pressure, good elasticity. In particular, the concrete sleeper shoulder is eliminated, thereby eliminating the possibility that the rail bottom may traverse under the lateral force and cause the gauge to expand, so that the gauge distance is maintained. The rail clip fastening ability is very strong, and because of the cancellation of the bolt connection, the fastener maintenance workload is greatly reduced.
