Rail joint bar and rail fasteners for subway project

On July 24th of 2018, Chilean customer visited AGICO for railway product for subway project, more importantly the earlier communication during a exhibation and later emails has given him a good impression on Product Quality, this time he visited agico factories and brought an order of Rail Joint Bar and a series of other rail fasteners for a upcoming subway project.
How rail joint bar works
Although rail joint bars connect steel rails with seams, it create discontinuities in the running surface of the steel rails. Many factors can increase its discontinuitities, such as bending, thermal, and residual stresses, rail joints are also subjected to dynamic loads due to these discontinuities. When will fishplate failure occur, under normal track and load conditions, it is mostly caused by high cycle fatigue, this conclusion is made due to fatigue striations observed on broken rail joint bars. Accelerated track degradation will increase deflections, which further increase joint bar stresses, possibly changing the failure from high cycle fatigue to low cycle fatigue and in some cases even yielding.
Most fishplate designs are made to support only the railhead and base, which means it fit right between head and base. This feature is of limited value in continuous welded rail (CWR) where resistance to longitudinal force loads is also desired.
How Does Rail Joint Bar Failure Happen
Rail joint bar failures are a safety and reliability concern for railway lines. Because of their high safety design (i.e. two bars in each joint), a failed joint bar can be found and replaced before steel rail disconnected and an accident occurs. Due to record, rail joint bars are typically not common track causes of accidents in the FRA accident database. Which means, choosing and maintenance of high quality rail joint bar is important in railway line safety.
