how to anchor spiral spike into concrete sleeper

Fixing Screw Spike on Concrete Sleeper

Anchoring materials and their technical conditions

  1. Sulfur: Grade II-III industrial sulfur, with a purity of more than 95%. It is evenly divided into pieces before preparation. If it is damp, it should be dried before preparation.
  2. Cement: ordinary Portland cement, no less than 425, if there is agglomeration, before preparation
    Screened.
  3. Sand: Natural grade with coarse sand, the particle size is not more than 2 mm; sieving, washing and drying before preparation.
  4. Paraffin: General industrial paraffin, which should be broken into pieces before preparation. Above various materials, no mix debris.

Cement Melting process

Cement Melting Process
  1. According to the amount of work, weigh the primary melting amount of each material according to the mixing ratio.
  2. Put the sand into the pot first, stir fry and heat to 100~120 °C, then put the cement into the pot and stir to heat to about 130 °C. Finally, put the sulfur and paraffin into the pot, continue heating and stirring to make the melt. The mixture is evenly mixed, and it is used for cease-fire when it is thickened into a gelatinous state. The temperature is about 160 ° C to 180 ° C.
  3. In the process of melting, in order to prevent combustion, it is advisable to heat and melt with a small fire. Pay attention when heating
  4. Observe that when the melt begins to appear dark red, the pot end is stirred, and after the blocky melt is completely melted, the pot end is heated to the furnace until it is gelled.

Screw Spike Anchoring process

  1. Remove the rail sleeper fasteners. Use a wrench to remove the nut, gusset, iron seat and small rubber pads and store them in a suitable place.
  2. Retreat: When repairing nail holes or replacing screw spikes on the line, at least two concrete sleepers must be separated to remove one screw. Use a long shank wrench or a spanner wrench to remove the screw spikes. If the threaded spike is broken, the original sulfur anchorage in the hole around the broken nail can be burned by using a hot hollow hole puncher or a blowtorch, and the molten material and the broken thread spike can be taken out with a small iron spoon.
  3. Clear the hole. Alternately use two solid perforators to clean the holes, and try to enlarge the lower hole to restore the original flare after the nail holes are cleaned. The debris in the reserved hole of the sleeper should be completely cleaned, and at the same time, care should be taken to prevent the large rubber pad from being burned out. If necessary, the large rubber pad can be moved into the bottom of the rail.
  4. Plugging holes: Seal the bottom of the hole with coarse sand and compact it. The effective depth of the nail hole should not be less than 140~160 mm. (The filling depth is 20mm larger than the length in the spiral hole)
  5. Melt the sulfur melt, the amount of melting per pot should not exceed 50kg. The melting process should be constantly stirred, the firepower should be controlled, and the fire should not be too strong. The temperature of the anchor slurry should not exceed 180 °C.
  6. Filling: Use the grout spoon to uniformly inject the sulfur melt into the nail hole. It should be noted that the filling should not be too full, and the slurry can be about 10 mm from the top surface of the nail hole. The temperature at which the sulphur cement mortar is injected into the hole shall not be less than 130 ° C, and segregation shall be prevented, and one hole shall be filled once.
  7. Install anchor frame: Place the anchor frame on the top surface of the nail hole so that the rear slope of the iron seat abuts the shoulder of the sleeper and aligns left and right to control the position of the threaded spike.
  8. Stud: Hand-held thread spikes, along the center of the nail hole of the anchor frame, rotate left and right slowly
Slowly insert vertically so that its square plate falls on the anchoring frame, and the shank abuts against the semi-circumferential wall of the anchoring frame.
After the sulfur melt has solidified, the anchoring frame is removed. (The adhesive on the screw spike should be completely removed. The screw spike should be kept dry and its temperature should be kept above 0 °C.)
  9. Repair the nail hole surface: Use a flat spatula to remove the sulfur melt from the overflow hole, make the table surface clean and clean, and pack the pieces under the shovel for reuse.
  10. Upper fastener: Apply oil to the threaded nail rod, install small rubber pad, iron seat, gusset plate, spring washer, and tighten the nut. When repairing nail holes or replacing screw spikes in summer, due to the high temperature of the sleeper, the sulfur melt solidifies slowly, and it is not advisable to immediately attach the fasteners.
  11. Apply anti-corrosive paint to the root of the bolt, and apply anti-corrosive paint evenly and satisfactorily.
