The hydraulic rail puller is a tool specially used for maintaining rail tracks, and its role is very important. The hydraulic rail puller mainly consists of a running wheel assembly, a lever assembly, a joystick assembly, an oil tank assembly, a reset spring, a spring plate assembly, a rear clamp assembly, a small and large safety pin assembly, a working pressure cylinder assembly, a front clamp concrete and a wedge iron.
The function of hydraulic rail puller:
- Adjust the width of the rail gap: Keep the spacing between the rails within the appropriate range. Correctly positioned rails can reduce the shaking of the train during travel, improve the riding comfort of passengers, and reduce the friction between the train and the track, extending the service life of the steel rail.
- Release the stress from temperature: Rail puller can also repair the track gap imbalance caused by temperature changes. When the temperature changes greatly, the steel rails often expand due to heat or contract due to cold, causing changes in the track gap. If it is not adjusted in time, the track gap imbalance may cause the train to run unsteadily or even derail. The rail puller works as a track gap adjuster can keep the track gap in a reasonable balance state through automatic or manual adjustment.

What is Hydraulic Rail Tensor Machine

During on-site construction, within a certain range below the locking rail temperature, the equipment is used to forcibly stretch the rails in a zero-stress state to the length at the locking rail temperature and then re-lock or perform thermite welding of the rails.

Difference Between Rail Puller and Rail Tensor
Rail pullers can temporarily replace rail sensors in extreme situations or special scenarios, but they are not an ideal choice due to their limited accuracy, efficiency and safety. The principle of "special machine for special purpose" should be followed in railway maintenance to ensure adjustment effect and operation safety.

Local rail gap adjustment of seamless lines
In seamless lines, if the local rail gap is abnormal due to construction or maintenance (such as turnouts and bridge joints), the rail puller can indirectly change the rail gap width by stretching or compressing the rails. However, it requires manual measurement and calibration, and the operation is complicated. -
Temporary adjustment in emergency maintenance
If the rail tensor is not available, the track puller can be used to apply tension or pressure to the rails, and the overall adjustment can drive the rail gap at the joint to change. However, the accuracy is low and it is only suitable for rough correction.
